23rd November 1963: A nursing home in Fitchville, Ohio burns down, taking the lives of 63 patients.
29th November 1963: Trans-Canada Air Lines Flight 831 crashes near Montreal, killing all 118 passengers.
30th November 1963: The Liberal-National coalition in Australia led by Robert Menzies wins the general election, further increasing their vast majority. This would be the last election Menzies would partake in.
1st December 1963: Strom Thurmond, Richard Russell, Ross Barnett and George Wallace hold a joint press conference in Richmond, Virginia announcing the formation of the new People’s Party in response to efforts by President Kennedy to attempt a sweeping civil rights bill. The People’s Party would be a segregationist right-wing white party mainly formed by former Democrats, it would also announce its national convention to be held in April 1964 - far earlier than the other parties - to gain an upper hand by earlier campaigning.
2nd December 1963: The Democratic Party loses its majorities in the House of Representatives and Senate due to defections to the People’s Party, in response it forms a coalition with the Republican Party, prompting criticism from Democratic moderates and Republican hardliners including Senator Barry Goldwater who withdraws from the presidential race as a result.
5th December 1963: Military companies introduce NATO to rocketry, prompting criticism from the Warsaw Pact.
8th December 1963: Pan Am Flight 214 crashes in Maryland after being struck by lightning, 81 people die.
10th December 1963: Zanzibar gains independence from the United Kingdom as a monarchy under Sultan Jamshid bin Abdullah
12th December 1963: Kenya gains independence from the United Kingdom, Jomo Kenyatta is installed Prime Minister.
21st December 1963: Low-level sectarian conflict breaks out between Turkish and Greek Cypriots.
22nd December 1963: The cruise ship TSMS Lakonia is destroyed in a fire, taking the lives of 128 passengers.
25th December 1963: Turkish Prime Minister İsmet İnönü of the Republican People’s Party forms a new government, the tenth government he has led.
27th December 1963: Governor George Wallace of Alabama announces his campaign for President as the candidate of the People’s Party.
31st December 1963: The Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland dissolves.
