Challenge: Avoid the rise of "objective" journalism in the United States

With a post-1850 or post-1900, preferably POD your challenge is to prevent the rise of "objective"/"responsible" journalism of the sort that rose in the United States during the late victorian/progressive era and peaked in the mid-20th century.

What repalces it? I suspect the result of whatever POD is essentially, a United States journalism culture that in many ways resembles the UK's OTL. More tabloid-like, more openly and honestly partisan. Think an America where the NY Post is closer to the norm.

PODs for this? Honestly unsure. Weaken progressivism in favor of laborism/socialism/x ATL movement of your choice. Definitely keeping FDR out somehow, whether it's another democrat in 1932 or Zangara not missing would help with the radio(and by extension TV) end of things.

Using the Wobblies to break the bourgeois party system in order to get a normal newspaper culture is a 20 tonne press for a walnut.

The modern concept of journalistic objectivity owes alot to Walter Lippman, who was inspired by the New York Times' flawed coverage of the Russian Revolution. If he didn't take as much of an interest in the issue, his ideas might have been less influential.

Problem is, it was kind of already around by then but removing his interest in it could help tone it down.
