Question re: American Canada

Partially due to all of the recent threads on American Quebec/Nova Scotia, I've been wondering on the following question:

WI: the Americans captured and held Montreal during the revolution, but NOT Quebec?

Any thoughts?

I imagine you would have seen a fair amount of French-speakers fleeing to Quebec city, and the US deliberately moving in Anglos. The peace treaty would likely involve ceding Upper Canada to the Americans.

Virtually all the settlement in Western Canada would gradually be grabbed by the US, with UK possessions being Nova Scotia to Quebec City, plus a loosely controlled Hudson Bay. It's probably more likely than not that the US will successfully overrun Quebec and Nova Scotia at some point in the 19th Century, at which point the Hudson Bay will be handed over.
