Winston Churchill wrote the first DBWI

In 1931, a book titled "If It Had Happened Otherwise" was published. It was a series of essays written by various people imagining alternate histories.

One of these essays was "What if Lee lost Gettysburg?" by Winston Churchill. It is from the point of view of a Confederate historian living in a world where the Confederacy won the civil war.

And then Britain unites with the USA and CSA.

What is interesting is the historical context of it. People were so convinced (in the mainstream world) that the war wasn't due protecting slaving farmers that Churchill has Lee to abolish slavery after the war.
