Quislings Coup
Quislings Coup
With the capture of Captain Bernhard Rogge by the Royal Navy and followup operations to make sure no other remaining submarines might strike against the Atlantic, or Global Trade, a so called North Sea Court made up by British, Norwegian, Danish, German and Russian members and judges was set up to deliver a fair trial for the pirates, as well as those merchant crews and nation states mostly involved. In it’s End the crew was found guilty of their crimes for what they did, but the Death Penalty was reduced in exchange for them helping to find and neutralize the mines they had laid on the major shipping lanes, even if not all would be found. In Norway Opposition Leader Vidkun Quisling calls the trial and the Norwegian Government weak and pathetic and calls for a new National Scandinavian Union and Empire to protect itself against outside interest and rule the North Sea and the North Atlantic Once more. While his overall call for National Revolution remained unheard and laughed at by most Scandinavians, some so called Quislingist Coupists would actually occupy the Faroe Islands for a week, with a small cruiser they had taken over with parts of the Navy, before the British Royal Navy kicked them out five days later and arrested them all. At the same time Quislingist Coupists tried to take over the Government in Narvik itself, trying to arrest King and Parliament, to proclaim themselves the new government, but the majority of police, army and navy remaining loyal to Norway, the Norwegian Kingdom, the Norwegian Parliament and the Norwegian People during the so called Battle of Narvik, Quisling himself and major Quislingist Coupists are trialed for treason and later executed. Their tainted Legacy will leave a dark spot on Scandinacian pan-Germanis, pan-Scandinavianism and any ideas of modern Scandinavian Unity, as Quislingist Coupists had at the same time tried to take over Stockholm and Copenhagen in Sweden and Denmark as well, leading failed attacks against local Royals and Governments Officials. At the same time the incident was so quickly over in general, that no outside interference from major powers, let alone the United Nations was not needed, despite some British and German calls and questioning if reinforcements were needed, once news of the coup came out.
